That pandemic insurance reportedly cost the event a hefty $2 million per year over the last 17 years ($34 million in total). But the current SARS-CoV-2 virus has proven that gamble to be prescient. Wimbledon will receive $141 million after being forced to cancel this year’s grand slam event.
